Project Description

Boucan-Carre is a remote village in the Central Plateau of Haiti. Because of the rough terrain and road conditions in the area, healthcare is difficult to access. Before BHI began reconstruction of the Women’s Health Center on the Zamni Lasante campus, the building was cracked and largely non-operational due to earthquake damage. Once completed, this facility will be transformative for maternal and child health for the Boucan-Carre community. Moreover, Boucan-Carre’s impact will spread to nearby communities that reach far into the mountains of Haiti. By increasing access to healthcare for mothers and infants, the health and wellbeing of the entire community will be elevated.
